The Brampton ‘Clergy Residence’ was dedicated to the ‘Buddha Sasana’ on 03 November 2007 fulfilling a long-felt need for about 400 Sri Lankan Buddhist families in Brampton area with the leadership of Ven. Pangnasara Thero
Very devoted and generous Buddhist couple, Mr. Any Gunasekera and Mrs. Sriya Gunasekera, was behind this magnanimous gesture. They came forward with the support of people in Brampton to establish a place to fulfill spiritual needs of all expatriate Sri Lankans and Canadians
The ‘Clergy Residence’ is run by a Dayaka Sabha Committee of about 30 devotees. The president is Mrs. Ajantha Dias, first lay women to become a president of a Dayakasabha in a North American Dayaka Sabha Committee. The secretary is Mr. Bandula Marasinghe who is very much dedicated to the development of the Centre.

1. Ven. PaddayePitiye Vajiraghana Nayaka Thero

Ven. PaddayePitiye Vajiraghana Nayaka Thero is the teacher of Ven. Pannasara Thero. He is the Sanga Nayaka for southern region of Sri Lanka. He is very experienced in meditation and has conducted many 10 day meditation programs in Sri Lanka.
2. Ven. Pannasara Thero

A graduate of the Sri Jayewardenepura University, Sri Lanka and Brock University of St Catharine, Ontario, Rev. Pangnasara has taken a keen interest in helping the poor children from 1997.
After graduating in Sri Lanka Rev. Pangnasara taught in Walasmulla, his native place in south Sri Lanka, for three years before settling down in Canada, he traveled a lot in Asian and European countries on Buddhist missionary work.
After coming to Canada he has thought that this is the best country in the world to live and stayed here.
Rev. Pangnasara teaches Sinhala to high school students in the peel District School Board.
Rev. Pangnasara once explained what sparked an interest in the welfare of the poor and destitute, as follows. “One day while holidaying in Sri Lanka, I saw a blind girl for about 8 years old who was too poor to go to school. I decided that I should help her and send money after coming back to Canada. More and more people prepared to help and Scholarship fund was formed that currently finance 600 students n Sri Lanka. He is heavily involved in building a home for the orphan children in Sri Lanka called Canadapura Children’s Village.
Referring to his various experiences Ven. Pangnasara said, “ When is honesty, dedication and hard work- anyone could achieve anything and could work with anybody regardless of their labels such as gender, culture, religion, ethnicity etc. Those who complain about others do not follow the right path”.
